Corona Virus and effect on Salon

Posted by The Vanity Lounge Salon on 11 May 20 with Comments Off on Corona Virus and effect on Salon

With the current uncertainty surrounding Coronavirus (COVID-19), it’s only natural that businesses are being precautious when it comes to hygiene and safety. This is especially prevalent in our industry when so much of the service relies on physical touch.

We will be sending out text and email messages so that we can keep all our clients up to date with information regarding the Vanity Lounge.

Our number one commitment is to the safety of our staff and clients, we are currently looking at measures within the salon and will be implemented ready for when we open. We have already deep cleaned the salon on a number of occasions and taken the opportunity to re-model and re-fresh the look of the salon.

Keep your hair shiny and healthy

Posted by The Vanity Lounge Salon on 26 Apr 20 with Comments Off on Keep your hair shiny and healthy

Water can effect hair in different ways.

Metal Ions, present in all types of water, react with shampoo to form mineral deposits that cling to your hair making it look really lacklustre. People in hard water areas are affected most by lifeless, dull hair, whereas those in soft water areas might find their hair is too flyaway.

There are products on the market that are designed to act as a magnet, attracting the mineral ions so your hair feels noticeably cleaner, shinier and smoother (AreaH20 shampoo)

Also having regular treatments and clarifying the hair will help with shine, manageability, and keep hair healthy.

Colour Treatment

Keeping Reds, Coppers and even Brunettes vibrant are always challenging and are more prone to colour fading, however, there will always be a degree of fade when colour is freshly applied, whatever your shade.

Don’t shampoo your hair immediately after having a colour service as this is when the hair colour will fade the most due to the cuticles being more open than usual. Instead, wait 24-48 hours and look for products with a PH value of 4.5 to 5.5 to keep the outer layer of the hair compact.

Blondes are more prone to discolouring and turning more yellow or warm than previously coloured/lifted, use a Violet/Blue based Shampoo and conditioner to keep those yellow tones at bay.

Lack of Hair

Factors such as poor diet, excessive styling or heat damage all contribute to limiting the growth of hair. Stress can also cause a decline in both growth and hair loss – when stressed the body goes into shock and blood circulation is disturbed, which can starve the hair of vital nutrition, leading to weaker of slower growth.

Avoid aggressive styling products or tools. A great haircut is critical, even though you’re growing your hair. As the ends decay and disintegrate, any splitting can travel up the hair shaft if not caught in time. Book in for a trim every 3-8 weeks.

Female hair loss is progressive thinning to the top and front of the scalp. Caused by genetic inheritance, age and sensitivity to testosterone, it can affect women after puberty, childbirth, particularly after the menopause.

There are several products and systems on the market today that can give the illusion of thicker hair. A good haircut is important, a short bob is good for thickening, avoid centre partings, if experiencing loss at the front and top- full fringe from further back or a side parting might cover this problem.

ASK in Salon for any advice on Hair Loss Systems/Products.
